While the Japanese authorities stated that the situation was under control at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, 240 kilometers north of Tokyo, columns of smoke in two of the reactors threw further doubt on the management of the crisis.
The government said it had regained power in three reactors, which would operate the cooling system installations.
But the output of smoke in the reactor 3, first, and 2, then, shows there is still unpredictable variables.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), supervisor of the United Nations on the nuclear issue, said there has been progress but the situation remains serious.
The Fukushima Daiichi plant was damaged during the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that hit northeastern Japan ten days ago.
According to latest official figures, the quake killed at least 8,500 dead and 13,000 missing. But as admitted by the same authorities, the death toll could multiply.

Pollution
Ten days after the tragedy, the situation is far from a solution.
Even in the three reactors regained power, to be determined whether this will be enough to restore the cooling system, essential to prevent leakage of radiation.
The situation is better in reactors 5 and 6, separated from the other four and using a different type of fuel.
However, according to tests on samples of milk, spinach and vegetables in the vicinity of the central Fukushima, radioactive iodine levels found are seven times higher than the limit set by law.
The government has suspended the export of milk from the region of spinach Fukushima and Ibaraki Prefecture, and on Tuesday decide whether to extend the ban.
The Japanese cabinet secretary, Tetsuro Fukuyama, attempted to calm the population and ensure that these levels of radioactivity did not represent any danger to human health.
"Personally, I never let my children take a lot of milk, but with today's pollution levels would not hesitate to allow them to consume spinach and milk" said.
However, the news that drinking water in Tokyo have traces of radiation, although 100 times below the legal limit, highlights the seriousness of the situation.

The Works and Days
About 300 engineers have struggled to stabilize the six nuclear reactors at the Fukushima plant after the earthquake and tsunami destroyed the cooling system.
In the reactor 1 and 2 experts have installed cables to try to restore and reactivate the power supply cooling device.
in reactors 3 and 4, military equipment and firefighters have thrown water in an attempt to lower the temperature.
The reactor 3 is the most compromised by internal imbalances in the system pressure.
Despite all this, the Secretary of Energy United States, Steve Chu, was cautiously optimistic about solving the crisis.
"We believe it is on track to be resolved, but I will not rush to make a definitive statement about it," Chu completed.
